A letter to all the caregivers and business professionals who put others before themselves. Here's the truth you know and need to BELIEVE: to be at your best for others, you first need to take care of yourself.

Dear Friends,
Every day, you care for others—children, significant others, friends, elderly parents, colleagues. You strive toward your goals and help others reach theirs. You're the chauffeur, chef, housekeeper, and tutor. You take pride in keeping the house clean and taking care of others...all while kicking butt in the office.
Here's the truth you know and need to BELIEVE: to be at your best for others, you first need to take care of yourself.
This isn't just advice. It is a command. You owe it to yourself to be as strong, healthy, and unstoppable as possible.
Self-care is not only smart, it is essential. Instead of thinking of "self-care" as getting a massage or facial, let's start thinking of "self-care" as "active recovery." Active recovery can be accomplished in a few minutes or less. It's how we recharge our bodies and minds to continue caring for our loved ones and performing at our peak throughout our career.
Five ideas for active recovery:
Walk in nature: Be truly present and reflect on the beauty around you.
"Ground" yourself: Stand in the grass with your shoes off & take a few deep breaths.
Perform a body scan: Put your feet on the floor. Close your eyes. Relax your brow. As you breathe, reflect on how each part of your body feels, from your head down. Relax each part of your body.
Yoga: This exercise is especially great if you've been sitting all day. In as little as 5 minutes, relieve stress from your body and mind.
Gratitude micro-practice: Reflect on a moment from your day or look at a picture that brings you joy. Put yourself back in the moment. Relive the moment and feel the joy.
Let's start a battle cry for every caregiver and professional putting everyone else first. This challenge is a declaration of strength. It's time to prioritize your health, reclaim your energy, and show the world what you're capable of accomplishing.
Rally your friends and colleagues. In the process of transforming our lives, we will transform those around us.
Make it a great day!
Jaquie
